Louis Vuitton Island Maison Opens in Singapore

The first Louis Vuitton Island Maison opened on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. This is the first ever luxury island that features the complete Louis Vuitton collections, from men's to women's to jewelry and even a bookstore. The project was designed by Peter Marino and inside the building you can see art from internationally recognized artists such as Richard Deacon and Ruben Tolledo.

Island Maison represents the fifth location for Louis Vuitton in Singapore.

Will Smith & Jada Pinkett: Inside Their Malibu Home

Will and Jada Pinkett Smith showed off their Malibu home for the upcoming issue of Architectural Digest.

“Everything needed to be done by hand,” Will said about the 25,000-square-foot home. “We wanted to feel the love and labor that went into every piece of this place."

“For Will and me this home was always a spiritual endeavor,” Jada says. “We’re very earthy, organic people. We wanted to create a family retreat, something made by hand and as natural as possible, something that ties back to the land.”

The Gucci Car Is Here

Ever wanted to drive a Gucci car? Well, now you can. The house of Gucci collaborated with Fiat 500 and the result is a car with the Gucci logo and the Gucci signature colors (red and green or, more accurately, the green-red-green band) on it. The campaign was lensed by Mert & Marcus and it is fronted by Natasha Poly, a familiar face for Gucci ad campaigns.

Cool stuff one might find while surfing the net at 3 AM

I'm a night owl, ok? Never been a morning person, never will be, despite my repeated attempts. While surfing the net in the wee hours of the morning the last few weeks, I stumbled upon some cool stuff which I am determined to share with you in this post of utter randomness :D

How about some installations made of books, pencils and little plastic soldiers? Frederico Uribe is highly creative and you can see more of his work, including sculptures and paintings, on his website. 

Electrolux has a new line of vacuum cleaners made from plastic waste: "Vacs From the Sea". The Swedish manufacturer is hoping to raise awareness about plastic waste in the oceans and sent out teams to locations around the world to collect plastic trash. Even though Electrolux is a large consumer of plastics that are not recycled, they claim they want to change that.

This is one chair I might need. The "Lost In Sofa" chair that will help you keep track of items like remote control, books, mobile phone, whatever, because they can be safely inserted into the little spots between the cubes of the sofa.

Jean Paul Gaultier's love of interior design recently resulted in a collaboration with the furniture design house Roche Bobois. The collection includes mirrors, floor mats, a transformable sofa, a bed and many cushions.
